Overview
WILEX’s lead compound is RENCAREX®* (WX-G250),
a targeted antibody therapy for the treatment of solid tumours. The WX-G250
antibody was originally developed at the University of Leiden, Netherlands,
by a team led by Prof. Sven Warnaar, who joined WILEX in 1999 and served
as
the
company’s Chief Scientific Officer until he retired in June 2003.
RENCAREX® is currently in a pivotal Phase III
trial as an adjuvant therapy of patients with non-metastatic renal cell
cancer
(RCC). In Phase
I and II studies with more than 100 RCC patients completed, RENCAREX® has
shown good safety and tolerability and a promising efficacy profile.
